TailGuard stores all aircraft, maintenance, squawk, and flight data locally on your device using on-device storage. No account or sign-up is required. We do not operate servers and do not collect, transmit, or store your data.
When AI features are enabled, voice recordings, text descriptions, and cockpit photos you submit are sent to your chosen AI provider (Groq or OpenAI) for processing. This data is subject to each provider's privacy policy. TailGuard does not store or have access to data processed by these services.
FAA registry lookups send your aircraft tail number to the FAA's public API. No personal information is transmitted.
Airworthiness Directive data is retrieved from the Federal Register API, a free public U.S. government service. No personal information is transmitted.
TailGuard may request access to your camera (meter scanning), microphone (voice logging), photo library (logbook photos), and notifications (maintenance reminders). These permissions are requested only when you use the relevant feature and can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
You can delete any aircraft and all associated data at any time from the Aircraft tab. Uninstalling the app removes all data. No data is sent to external services unless you provide an API key for an AI provider.
TailGuard is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
